BROOKS HALF MARATHON 

Start your journey in the gorgeous, little seaside town that is Kennett River and make your way along the iconic Great Ocean Road. Whether you’ve signed up to the 23km run or the 23km walk, experience the same beauty of Australia’s lush forests and picturesque coastlines on your own two feet before crossing that finish line in Apollo Bay.

Brooks Pacer Program

Pace Group Leaders will be expected to run at an even pace for the entire distance of their event and offer encouragement and information along the way. Keeping to your allocated pace and communication between yourself and the runners within your Pace Group is extremely important if everyone is to continue as a group. The following Pace Groups will be running in the Full Marathon in 2024:

RUNNING WITH A PACER

  • If you are a participating athlete and wish to join a Pace Group, please look out for the Pace Group signs at the Start Area on race day.
  • You do not need to register your interest.
  • All Pace Group Leaders will be easily identifiable in event gear with their particular pace time clearly visible.

Race Bib Distributions

Australian Competitors

  • Race bib are only posted to those who register prior to 11.59pm February 21st and provide an Australian address on their registration. If for any reason your Race Bib does not arrive, a replacement bib can be collected from the Race Week Office. Please note, if you enter the Event between 12:00am on Feb 21st, 2024 and 11:59pm on April 17, you will have the option of paying for priority postage or collection from the event race offices (Lorne and Apollo Bay) during race office hours. Registering from 12:00am Wednesday April 18 onwards, means you will be required to pick up/collect your Event race pack from the Event race office prior to the commencement of the Event.

International Competitors

All international competitors are required to collect their bibs from the Race Week Office.

Drink Stations

There will be 6 drink stations throughout the Half Marathon Course.

Water will be provided on course and you may choose to carry your own sports drinks/gels with you. Please discard this rubbish at the bins provided at the drink stations.

Race Day Transport

Half Marathon Shuttle Bus

A shuttle bus service will run to get Half Marathon runners to the start line in Kennett river on Sunday 19 May.

Return buses will travel from Apollo Bay back to Lorne after the event. Buses will commence at approximately 11am, last bus is at 3:30pm sharp.

You will be required to purchase a bus pass to enable you on these buses if you wish to use this service. This must be purchased during the online event registration process, or from the Race Week Office.

Getting to the start line in Kennett River (depart from 5:45am):
Please note there are two departure points in Apollo Bay along Main St. Please make sure you are at the departure point for the Half Marathon start line. Exact locations will be published closer to the event.

After the event from Apollo Bay (depart from approximately 11am onwards)

Drive and Drop Information

If you wish to drive and drop a participant at the Half Marathon start line in Kennett River, you MUST be off the Great Ocean Road by 7:00am sharp. In order to be off the roads by 7:00am, you must have started your drop off journey by no later than 6:00am.

There will be drive and drop stops (2 minutes max) at Kennett River for cars to drop off Half Marathon participants and continue on to their destination. Whether you are returning to Lorne or Apollo Bay after the drop off, you MUST be off the Great Ocean Road by 7:00am sharp.

From midday, the road will start to reopen for North-bound traffic toward Lorne as the race progresses. The Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Apollo Bay will be completely reopened by 2:30pm. Click here for more information on Road Closures.
