Sunday Racer Information

In this explainer video we cover the important stuff for Sunday participants and spectators, including:

  • Road Closure Information
  • Getting to Your Start Line
  • Warm Clothing Service
  • Spectator Information
  • Our Road, Your Road Responsibilities
  • Getting Home

Saturday racers, the Great Ocean Road from Lorne to Apollo Bay will be open.

There are a small amount of road closures within Apollo Bay, with short detours in place. This will not affect your entering or departing Apollo Bay.

Sunday Bus Service

The Great Ocean Road will be closed to traffic from 7:00am to 2:30pm on Sunday 19 May. We strongly suggest using our Shuttle Bus Service to get to and from the Ultra, Marathon, and Half Marathon start and finish lines.

If you have not yet purchased a bus pass and need one, please follow these instructions to add one to your registration. Bus passes purchased after April 5 will need to be collected from either of our Race Week Offices.

For more information please click here.

Warm Clothing

We offer a warm clothing service for the Half, Full and Ultra Marathon events.

There is a tear off section on your bib that you will be able to attach to your bag for identification.

A warm clothing truck will be situated at both the Half Marathon start line (Kennett River) and the Full/Ultra Marathon start line (Lorne). Bring your warm clothing inside your own bag to this truck, and it will be re-located to the finish line (Apollo Bay) for you to come and collect post-race.

Road Closures

The Great Ocean Road will be completely closed between Lorne and Skenes Creek (traffic will be under escort between Skenes Creek and Apollo Bay) from 7am on Sunday May 19.

We encourage all spectators to be in Apollo Bay before the road closes at 7am to avoid the Great Ocean Road closure and ensure you see your runner finish.

We recommend competitors wishing to depart Apollo Bay by car after their event to head South along the Great Ocean Road through Marengo, Lavers Hill, Ferguson and Colac, or wait until 2:30pm for the Great Ocean Road to re-open.

For detailed Road Closure Information click here.

Merch Store

Shop the exclusive range of  Great Ocean Road Running Festival merchandise. Our Merchandise Stores will be located within the Apollo Bay Festival Hub.

Friday, May 17 9:00am-6:00pm
Saturday, May 18 8:00am-6:00pm
Sunday, May 19 9:00am-2:30pm

We encourage your friends and family to cheer you on as you cross the finish line. Please note, for all events finishing in Apollo Bay on Sunday 19 May, your cheer squad will not be allowed on the Great Ocean Road after 7am. Please refer to the road closure information to plan your morning.
