welcome 3 As we journey across this beautiful country, we acknowledge the Gadubanud people who cared for this country for over 60,000 years. We pay our respects to their history, culture and elders, past, present and emerging. Welcome to the 2024 Great Ocean Road Running Festival. We’re thrilled to welcome you to Australia’s most stunning running festival! I am very excited to announce that this will be our biggest event to date, with over 10,000 walkers and runners set to experience the scenic trails within the Great Otway National Park and the road courses that hug the seaside cliffs along the iconic Great Ocean Road. We have been blown away with the growth of running and are proud to deliver an event that everyone can get involved in. Make the most of your weekend along this stunning coastline and check out what’s on across the region, there are plenty of local offers available for all participants and don’t forget to visit the event hubs located in both Lorne and Apollo Bay! This event would not have been possible without the support of the local communities, our amazing event volunteers, partners, sponsors, spectators, and of course, the thousands of inspiring participants who will be out in force to help make history. A huge thank you for your support of this great event! Best of luck to everyone participating this weekend, whether you’re running in the 1.5KM Kids Gallop or taking on the 60KM Ultra Marathon we hope you enjoy the weekend, and we’ll see you at the finish line! Brad King, Senior Event Director

road closures The Great Ocean Road will be completely closed between Lorne and Skenes Creek (traffic will be under escort between Skenes Creek and Apollo Bay) from 7am on Sunday May 19. A detour route is marked in yellow on the map below. Although we strongly encourage all spectators to be in Apollo Bay before the road closes at 7am, it is possible to have someone drive you to the start of the marathon in Lorne, watch you start and then drive to the finish at Apollo Bay. Your driver having watched you start the marathon must immediately then travel via the inland route of Deans Marsh, Barwon Downs, Forrest and Skenes Creek to the finish at Apollo Bay. Please note, they may not get to Apollo Bay in time to see you cross the finish line if they see you Start. 18

LEAVING THE EVENT SUNDAY FROMAPOLLO BAY BY CAR The Great Ocean Road will be closed between the hours of 7:00am – 2:30pm. We recommend competitors wishing to depart Apollo Bay by car after their event to head South along the Great Ocean Road through Marengo, Lavers Hill, Ferguson and Colac, or wait until 2:30pm for the Great Ocean Road to re-open. Please note, we do not recommend heading North along the Great Ocean Rd after 7:00am / before 2:30pm to join the vehicle escort queue to the inland detour route as you will experience extensive waiting periods in traffic. 19
