Pierce Brothers to play Great Ocean Road Running Festival

Melbourne duo, the Pierce Brothers will headline a FREE jam packed entertainment line-up at the Great Ocean Road Running Festival (GORRF), 20 – 21 May, along with favourite local acts Cal Young, Abe Anderson and DJ Ram Daddy plus Sydney’s Seaforth and Dazzling Dan the Magic Man for the kids.

IMG Event Director Marcus Gale said the Great Ocean Road Running Festival offers something for everyone.

“Our partnership with the Lorne Hotel has allowed the event to expand into the music and entertainment space and provide participants with something completely new.

“The aim is to create the best possible experience for participants, their friends and family of all ages and we think they will love the terrific entertainment on offer – a magic show for the kids by Dazzling Dan and a great music line-up which includes a performance by the hugely talented and emerging duo the Pierce Brothers,” Mr Gale said.

Having started out busking on Melbourne’s streets, the Pierce Brothers’ irresistible energy and acclaimed live act has projected them to the world stage, selling out gigs across the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA as well as at home in Australia.

The multi-instrumentalist twin brothers, Jack and Pat Pierce are certain to attract the crowds providing yet another entertainment offering over the weekend when they play from 3pm on Saturday, 20 May.

Paul Upham, GM Lorne Hotel said the entertainment is sure to please.

“As the Official Entertainment Hub for the Great Ocean Road Running Festival, we are thrilled to confirm our line-up for event weekend.

“The Pierce Brothers are already very popular in Australia and they’re quickly growing momentum overseas, we’re very excited to see them headline for the festival.

“Abe Anderson can play almost anything from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and he’s supported some iconic Aussie performers in Jessica Mauboy, Jon Stevens from Noiseworks and Joe Camelleri & the Black Sorrows, while Cal Young’s forte is cruisy and relaxed beats with his own distinctive spin.

“Seaforth is an acoustic duo coming off the back of a sold out Australian tour with Will Singe. They have a great style that mixes a hint of country with sweet sounding melodies. We are so pleased with the line-up and really feel the weekend will be a hit with everyone,” Mr Upham said.

All GORRF participants are entitled to the Passport which is the ticket to all the peripheral activities on offer over the weekend including the Kite Festival and other Festival Hubs for wellness and film.

Formerly the Great Ocean Road Marathon, the two day festival has grown to allow runners of all ages and fitness levels to participate in one of seven events ranging from the Great Ocean Road Walk all the way up to the 60km Ultra Marathon.
